Specialty Organization to Develop Core Competency Statement
The CCNAPI participated during the PRC-BON Nursing Specialty Certification Council meeting last April 21, 2005 at
the Philippine Heart Center. The meeting was called to continue the work on the Nursing Competencies that will
become the framework for certification for specialty areas. During the meeting each specialty organization
formulated relevant competency statements for each clinician level. Each specialty organization was task to come
up with their standards of practice and to present this to the NSCC for review.
Furthermore, PRC-BON NSCC reminded the specialty organization to inform their members that application for
recognition of qualified clinical specialist is now on going. For more information about certification and

CCNAPI Participates in the ICN Congress in Taipei

The International Council Of Nurses (ICN) had the 23rd Quadrennial Congress
in Taipei, Taiwan last May 20 - 27, 2005. The theme "Nursing on the Move:
Knowledge, Innovation and Vitality" focused on the many aspects of the
dynamism of the nurses. Issues regarding migration, safety, needle stick
injuries, HIV and AIDS and mental health were among the priority issues that
were discussed. The ICN congress was participate by more than 5000 nurses
from 126 member countries.

Ferdinand Aganon and Ronnie Honculada.

Congress of the Stroke Society of the Philippines Goes to Ilocos
The Stroke Society of the Philippines will be having their annual congress in Laoag, Ilocos Sur on August 19-20, 2005.
There will be a Pre-Congress Workshop "Brain Attack Symposium for Physicians and Nurses" to be simultaneously
conducted in Vigan and Laoag on August 18, 2005. Two of our dynamic members, Mr. Ferdinand Aganon and Ms Merly Migo
will represent CCNAPI as faculty during the Post Graduate Course. They will discuss the topic "Stroke Nursing Care"
and will present the practice guidelines formulated by the CCNAPI.
